Biography
Sophia Adamowicz was born in Sheffield on the autumn equinox. Straddling the signs of Virgo and Libra, Sophia proved to be equally obsessional and indecisive. An only child, with no friends except her black and white cat, she peopled her world with imaginary characters and spent her days writing sinister stories inspired by the many horror films she watched. Little has changed since then.
Sophia has always had a passion for old buildings and the stories they tell. Many a long summer’s day in her childhood was spent strolling around English Heritage and National Trust properties, eagerly completing the quizzes designed to bore normal youngsters. As she grew older, she gravitated towards the Middle Ages and Early Modern period.
It was while training as a teacher that Sophia decided to enter the Festival of Thought competition, run by Salt publishing house. Much to her delight, she won. Her short story of 1000 words grew over the years into her first attempt at a novel. She has since published several short stories and nonfiction pieces, and is currently querying her second novel, The Brink.
